Rotobrush Coil Cleaning: The Fresno Owner’s Guide

If your Rotobrush system needs coil cleaning, we stock the compatible coils and cleaning assemblies for most Rotobrush duct cleaning units, with installed replacement typically running $220 to $480 depending on your model and how much of the coil assembly has to come apart. Most Fresno owners call us after they notice suction dropping off mid-job or the coil itself looking caked with lint and fine dust that won’t shake loose. The short version: if the coil is beat up, bent, or so loaded it’s starving the vacuum, you need a new one, not a longer rinse. That’s the part most people discover too late.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

The coil in question is the foam or synthetic-media filter coil that sits inside the Rotobrush vacuum canister or collection drum, depending on which generation of machine you run. Older Rotobrush models like the AiR-S and the original BR series use a round, pleated coil that slides over a center post. Newer Rotobrush models, including the EZ line and the newer BRx units, use a slightly taller cylindrical coil with denser media and different end caps. The gotcha most people hit: the coils are not interchangeable across generations. A coil from an older BR unit will not seat correctly in a newer BRx canister, and forcing it will crack the end cap and leak dust right past the filter. Before you order anything, check the metal tag on the vacuum body for the model number, then measure the coil. Outside diameter, inside bore, and height matter. Most come in around 8 to 10 inches in diameter and 6 to 9 inches tall, but quarter-inch differences mean the difference between a good seal and a dust leak. We stock genuine Rotobrush coils for the models we service most often in Fresno, and for older machines where Rotobrush no longer ships OEM, we carry quality aftermarket equivalents with the same media density ratings. Independent note: we are not affiliated with Rotobrush. We’re an independent service provider that runs their equipment and knows how to keep it working.

Signs Your Rotobrush Coil Is Failing

  • The vacuum pulls weak even with clean hoses. A clogged or collapsed coil restricts airflow before the motor ever sees it. You’ll notice the tool head doesn’t grab debris the way it did a year ago.
  • Fine dust blows out the exhaust port. That’s the coil letting particles pass through instead of trapping them. If you see dust in the air while running the unit, the media has torn or pulled away from the end cap.
  • The coil looks dark, greasy, or hard to the touch. Normal use loads the media with fine household dust and dryer lint. Once it gets that crusty, beating it against a trash can won’t bring airflow back. The media is done.
  • The coil won’t seat flush anymore. Warped end caps from heat or rough handling cause bypass. If it rocks or gaps when you drop it in the drum, suction takes the path of least resistance, which means right past the filter.
  • The motor runs hotter than it used to. A blocked coil makes the vacuum motor work harder against resistance. In Fresno summers, running already-hot equipment harder shortens motor life fast.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Fresno, expect to pay $220 to $480 installed for a Rotobrush coil replacement, with most jobs landing between $260 and $350. The spread comes down to three things: which generation your machine is, whether the coil is OEM Rotobrush or a quality aftermarket equivalent, and whether we’re just dropping a new coil in the drum or also cleaning out the canister, gaskets, and vacuum housing while we’re in there. The price we quote includes the coil, the labor to install it, and a quick airflow test to confirm the seal is right before you load the unit back on the truck. You get a written price before we touch the machine, every time. And like every repair we do at Linden Air Duct Fresno, the coil replacement carries our 365-day written guarantee: if the coil fails or seats wrong inside a year under normal use, we come back and make it right at no charge. No receipt games, no prorated nonsense.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a Rotobrush coil is not a high-tension job like a garage door spring, and the electrical risk is minimal if the unit is unplugged. But there are real ways to get it wrong. Dropping a new coil into a canister that still has old media shreds and caked dust behind it means the new coil sits proud and won’t seal. Overtightening the retaining nut on center-post models cracks the end cap. And if you order the wrong diameter online because you eyeballed it instead of measuring, you now own a useless part and still need the right one. What you can safely do: unplug the unit, pull the old coil, check the measurements, snap a photo of the model tag, and call us. We’ll tell you over the phone whether we have the right coil in stock and what the installed price will be. That call costs you nothing and saves you the frustration of guessing.
