Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The Fresno Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible duct sealing and repair components for Fresno homeowners, with most jobs running $225 to $475 installed depending on duct size and how much of the run needs attention. We keep the common Rotobrush sizes on the truck, so in most cases we can handle the repair on the first trip out. Most people find the problem the same way: a room that never quite heats or cools right, a hiss behind a wall, or a utility bill that climbed for no reason they could point to. The sealing sleeve or repair collar on a Rotobrush system usually fails quietly, and by the time you notice, you’ve been losing conditioned air into an attic or crawlspace for a while.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has produced several duct configurations over the years, and the sealing and repair components are not universal across all of them. The most common systems we see in Fresno homes are the older rigid-round and flex-duct runs from the late 90s through the mid 2000s, plus the newer insulated flex systems. The critical identifier is the inner duct diameter, normally 6, 8, or 10 inches, printed along the outer jacket in most cases. If the printing has worn off, we measure at the collar or take a reading off the register boot. One compatibility gotcha we run into regularly: a 6-inch Rotobrush collar from a 2004-era system will not seat properly on a 6-inch collar from a 2018 system, because the manufacturer changed the collar lip profile when they updated the product line. We match by physical measurement, not by model year, because we’ve seen too many systems with mixed generations of ducting in the same house.
For replacement sealing sleeves and repair collars, there are two options. OEM Rotobrush parts are stamped with the manufacturer mark and cost more, usually 30 to 40 percent higher than quality aftermarket equivalents. The aftermarket sleeves we carry are made to the same ID/OD tolerances and hold up just as well in the dry Central Valley climate. We stock both, and we’ll show you the difference before any work starts. If you want OEM, we order it. If you want to save the markup, we put the aftermarket part in and it’s covered by the same written guarantee.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- A room that’s always 5 to 8 degrees off from the rest of the house. When a sealing sleeve tears or a collar separates, the conditioned air leaks before it reaches the register. That room is effectively getting whatever the attic or crawlspace temperature is.
- Dust accumulating faster than it should. A gap in the duct run pulls unfiltered attic air into the system. You’ll notice a fine layer of dust on furniture in one room while the rest of the house stays clean.
- A whistling or hissing sound behind the drywall. Air escaping through a failed seal under pressure makes an audible sound. If you hear it, the leak is already significant.
- Utility bills climbing with no change in usage. Losing even 15 percent of your conditioned air through a failed duct seal shows up on the SMUD or PG&E bill within a couple of billing cycles.
- Lint or insulation fibers showing up at the register. This is a sign the duct jacket itself has been compromised, usually from rodent activity, and the inner liner is next. We see this a lot in older Fresno neighborhoods with mature trees and the roof rat pressure that comes with them.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fresno, a Rotobrush duct sealing or repair job typically runs $225 to $475 installed. The lower end covers a single sealing sleeve replacement on an accessible 6-inch run. The higher end covers multiple collars, a larger 10-inch main trunk seal, or work in a tight attic where we’re removing insulation to reach the failure point. The price includes the part, the labor, cleanup, and a written guarantee on the repair. We put the price in writing before any work begins, and that number does not change when the job is done. If the repair fails within 365 days, we come back at no charge under the Done Right Promise. We also carry some Lennox, Trane, and Carrier duct components, but Rotobrush is the system we stock most heavily because it’s the one we see most in Fresno homes built between 1995 and 2015.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Look at the visible duct runs in your garage or utility closet. If you see a collar that’s pulled away from the plenum, or a sleeve with a visible tear, you’ve found the problem. What you should not do is climb into a Fresno attic in July to replace it. Attics here hit 140 degrees and higher in the summer, and the work involves cutting away old mastic, seating a new collar, and re-sealing under tension. It is hot, awkward, and easy to get wrong in a way that leaks again in six months. We do this work in shoulder-season mornings or with proper ventilation, and the repair comes with a written guarantee that a DIY fix will not have. If you have found a failed seal and want it done right the first time, call us at (559) 272-4989 and we’ll give you a flat price before we touch anything.
FAQs
In the Central Valley, an original Rotobrush sealing sleeve typically lasts 12 to 18 years before the mastic dries out and the sleeve begins to separate, though attic heat and rodent activity can shorten that considerably. Our replacements are warrantied for 365 days under the Done Right Promise, and with proper installation they can last as long as the original. If you suspect a failed seal, call (559) 272-4989 for an inspection and a written estimate.
A small gap at the collar can sometimes be re-sealed with fresh mastic, but a torn sleeve or a separated collar is a replacement job, and patching it usually fails again within a season or two. We will tell you honestly which category your repair falls into when we look at it. Either way, the price is written before we start, and call (559) 272-4989 if you want us to take a look.
Most single-seal replacements take 45 minutes to an hour once we are on site, including cleanup; multiple-tap or hard-to-reach attic repairs can run two to three hours. We do not rush the sealant cure time, which is the part homeowners who have had bad experiences elsewhere usually notice. To get on the schedule, call (559) 272-4989.
Yes, we carry the most common 6, 8, and 10-inch Rotobrush-compatible sealing sleeves and collars on the truck, plus mastic and foil tape, so most Fresno repairs are completed on the first visit. If your system needs an OEM-specific part we do not have on hand, we order it and get you scheduled as soon as it arrives. Call (559) 272-4989 and we can confirm what we have before we head out.
